Water Facts:
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has added more than 100 lakes to its list of impaired lakes for 2010.
Minnesota Pollution Control Agency definition of “impaired”:
“Those waters that do not meet water-quality standards for one or more pollutants, thus they are “impaired” for their designated uses.”
Note: A new listing of an impaired lake does not necessarily mean pollution in the lake has worsened. Typically, it means new testing and assessment has been done and shows the lake does not meet state clean water standards.
